Determined
I was determined to join a coding bootcamp a few years ago, but having a family makes these things a little more complicated. So, I got a CDL first and drove, and saved, and drove. Four weeks on the road, four days at home. Forty-seven states, three provinces.
Life happened, of course, and my timeline was pushed several times. Then COVID hit and everything went online only, which was something I was trying to avoid. In December I decided that I couldn't wait any longer. I could not raise my son over FaceTime. So, I joined the Nucamp Coding Bootcamp Web Development Fundamentals course.
I learned HTML/CSS/JS, then Bootstrap, and then React in my downtime after driving for 11 hours (on top of hours of loading, unloading, securement, tarping, etc.). Every Saturday required extra planning so I that I could drive around our weekly live workshops.
As I began React Native, I was finally at a point where I could quit driving and fully commit to this career switch. Six months after I began at Nucamp, I finished the Node, Express, MongoDB course in June and graduated the Full Stack Web and Mobile Development Bootcamp!
